Second win in a row for Hibernians

Hibernians registered a second win in a row as they defeated ten-man Sirens 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

A win which puts the Paolites temporarily in fourth place.

Hibernians took the lead on the 23rd minute when off a corner from the right, Ferdinando Apap’s header hit the upright before ending at the back of the net.

A minute later, Sirens were reduced to ten men after Gilberto Martins Leite Carrara was sent off for retaliation on goalkeeper Ibrahim Kone.

The St. Paul’s Bay side still managed to level matters eight minutes from the end of the first half courtesy of Kemmu Degran Jackson who beat Kone with a fine shot from outside the area following an assist from the left.

However just before the end of the first half, Hibernians regained the lead as five minutes in added time, Giannis Bastianos beat Ini Etim Akpan with a powerful shot from the edge of the area which gave the Sirens goalkeeper no chance.
