Mellieha edged closer to securing their Amateur League 1 status after holding group winners Mtarfa in a goalless draw in a match from the IZIBET Amateur League Group A at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
On the other hand, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Mqabba 3-0 thanks to goals by Nathan Attard on the 22nd, Gabriel Borg on the 36th and Dylan Micallef three minutes in added time.
In Group A, Mtarfa lead the way with 52 points, followed by Birzebbuga on 46, Qrendi 38, Mellieha and Xghajra 34, Mqabba 31, Pembroke 30, Rabat 28, Sta. Venera 24, Kalkara 16, Siggiewi 14 and Mdina 1. Mtarfa have already secured promotion while Birzebbuga and Qrendi have already secured a place in the Amateur League 1 next season. On the other hand, Kalkara, Siggiewi and Mdina will be playing in the Amateur League 2.
