Leaders Floriana moved five points clear of second-placed Hamrun Spartans as they defeated eternal rivals Valletta 2-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Valletta, on the other hand, remain third from bottom on 20 points, three behind Mosta and five behind Santa Lucia, with the latter two having a game in hand.
The Greens were clearly a better side, taking the lead on the 35th minute courtesy of Kemar Reid who received a through pass by Dunstan Vella and rounded Enzo Ruiz before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Alessandro Guarnone.
Seven minutes from time, Floriana doubled the score when Matias Garcia sent substitute Jake Grech through and the latter hit low past the Valletta goalkeeper.
