BOV Challenge League: Melita move three points clear

Melita moved three points clear in the BOV Challenge League Top 6 as they defeated Zurrieq 5-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Jesus Andres Yepez Morlets put the Amateurs ahead on the 9th and one minute from the end of the first half, Jamie Carbone doubled the score. Karl Mohnani scored twice on the 79th and 84th with Andre Carlos Penha da Costa adding another two minutes from time.

Melita lead the way with 50 points, followed by Zabbar on 47, Marsa 36, Pieta’ 35, Senglea 34 and Zurrieq 31.

In the Play-Out, Zebbug Rangers condemned Attard to playing in the Amateur League 1 next season after beating them 6-0 at the Centenary Stadium. Johann Bezzina scored on the 31st and 35th to hand Zebbug a two-goal lead by the end of the first half. Kurt Bondin increased the lead four minutes in the second half and Bezzina completed his hat-trick seven minutes later. Duvan Mosquera Torres scored a fifth goal on the 74th with Mikele Vella adding another three minutes from time.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a goal by Luca Mallia seven minutes from time handed Fgura United a narrow win over Tarxien Rainbows.

St. Andrews defeated Msida St. Joseph 3-1 in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Wagner Eduardo Alves Pereira opened the score on the 24th and made it 2-0 seven minutes in the second half. Victor Ifeanyi Mbata reduced the gap on the 61st but eight minutes later, Luke Anthony Borg restored the two goal lead for St. Andrews.

In the Play-Out, Fgura lead the way with 34 points, followed by Lija on 32, Swieqi 31, Tarxien 27, Zejtun and Luqa 26, St. Andrews 21, Zebbug 20, Attard 14 and Msida 6.
