Malta futsal national team registers first competitive win

Malta registered its first ever win in a competitive match, defeating Scotland 4-1 in the opening match from Group C of the UEFA Futsal EURO Preliminary Round at the Mobiliar Arena in Bern on Wednesday.

Gabriel Dobre’s side went two goals ahead during the first half thanks to goals by Marwan Telisi on the 3rd minute and Giancarlo Sammut on the 6th. Celino Alves and Michael Borg extended the lead on the 26th minute. Kai Lawless pulled one back with one minute to go.

Malta plays Gibraltar on Thursday and hosts Switzerland on Saturday. Switzerland defeated Gibraltar in another match on Wednesday.
