Sirens came back from a goal down to beat Naxxar Lions 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
This was a major setback for the Lions who were seeking the three points in their bid to secure their Premier League status. They are now seventh on 31 points, one ahead of Balzan, two ahead of Gzira, five ahead of Santa Lucia and seven ahead of rivals Mosta who are fourth from bottom. Sirens, on the other hand, register their second win this season.
Joao Vitor Moura Cardoso put Naxxar ahead twelve minutes in the second half, heading the ball home off a corner from the left.
However three minutes from time, Sirens equalised thanks to substitute Bismark Asare who received an assist on the right and beat goalkeeper Matthias Debono with a low shot.
Three minutes in added time, the St. Paul’s Bay side notched the winner when off a pass by Harrison Panayiotou from the left, Bismark Asare slotted the ball past Debono.
