Rabat Ajax retained their Amateur League 1 status after defeating Mqabba 2-1 in a decider for sixth place in Group A of the IZIBET Amateur Leagur at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Thursday
A decider was necessary after Rabat Ajax and Mqabba finished joint-sixth in Group A.
Mqahba will now enter the IZIBET Amateur League Play-Outs which would determine which teams will be playing in the Amateur League 1 and avoid relegation to Amateur League 2.
Rabat managed to take the lead on the 29th minute thanks to Aidan Azzopardi and Immy Micallef converted a penalty on the 72nd to double the score. Ishmael Galea pulled one back five minutes in added time.
In the Play-Outs, scheduled for Tuesday 23, St. George’s face Pembroke Athleta at the Charles Abela Stadium at 20:15 while Mqabba take on Vittoriosa Stars at the Victor Tedesco Stadium at 19:30.
