A decider is necessary to determine fourth place and hence a place in the play-offs of the Nestlé Ice Cream Malta Beach Soccer League after Sliema Beach Soccer and Ta’ Xbiex ended their commitments on level points.
The Blues won the midweek clash against La Playa de Arena 4-3 with Italian player Vincenzo Margiotta scoring three goals and Shalon Diacono adding another one for his team. Daryl Micallef, Indrek Palm and Andre Cutajar were on target for La Playa de Arena.
On the other hand, Ta’ Xbiex were involved in three games, winning one and losing two. They beat Birżebbuġa Tigers 10-5 with Ryan Dalli and Saturday Nanapere scoring three goals while Jeremy Cassar scored twice and Giovanni Galea and Zvezdan Vukovic one each. Nigel Spiteri and Brandon Bray scored two goals for Birżebbuġa with Noel Tabone scoring the other goal.
Ta’ Xbiex lost 8-2 to Naxxar Lions who, in turn, managed to secure the second place. Nicholas Schembri and Lee Joe Schembri scored four goals each for Naxxar with Saturday Nanapere scoring a brace.
Ta’ Xbiex also lost their last match against Hamrun Beach Soccer 6-4. The latter finished the first phase at the top after a series of positive results. Antonello Demanuele and David Emanuel Garba scored two goals each with Chieck Kone and Shamison Farrugia scoring the other goals for Hamrun. A double by Antonello Demanuele and other goals by Giovanni Galea and Saturday Nanapere replied for Ta’ Xbiex.
Hamrun also had another positive result when they beat La Playa de Arena 7-3. Top scorer David Emanuel Garba scored three goals with Nezar Fawzi Abouhaisa adding two more. Antonello Demanuele and Shamison Farrugia also scored for Hamrun. Mantas Makutonovicius scored twice and Daryl Micallef once for La Playa de Arena.
