Malta to take part in both Women’s U-19, U-17 EURO

Malta will be taking part in both the 2024/25 Women’s Under-19 and Women’s Under-17 EURO – the draws for which were held on Friday. 

In fact, Malta will be making a return to the Women’s Under-19 EURO after an absence of one year.

In the 2024/25 Women’s Under-19 EURO round 1, Malta was drawn in Group B4 along with Slovenia, Croatia, Luxembourg. The mini-tournament will be played in Croatia between November 27 and December 3.

League A consists of 28 teams, including the seven promoted from League B after round 2 of the 2023/24 edition this spring. The teams have been drawn into seven groups; from these single-venue mini-tournaments, the teams finishing fourth will be relegated to League B for 2024/25 round 2, with the other positions deciding seeding for League A in that round. Poland will take part even though their finals place is assured as hosts. 

The 23 teams in League B include the sides relegated from League A in round 2 of the 2023/24 edition and Malta, returning after a one-season absence. They will compete for promotion to League A in six groups. The group winners and the best runners-up will be promoted.

2024/25 WU19 EURO round 1 draw: League B

Group B3: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Wales, Lithuania, Georgia
Group B4: Slovenia, Croatia, Luxembourg, Malta
Group B5: Switzerland, Estonia, Cyprus, Azerbaijan
Group B6: Ukraine, Israel, Armenia

In the 2024/25 UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship round 1, Malta was drawn in Group B2 along with Ukraine, Romania and Moldova. Malta will be hosting the mini-tournament between November 13 and 19.

League A includes 28 teams, including defending champions Spain and the seven nations promoted from League B after round 2 of the 2023/24 edition this spring.
