Summer Cup: Sliema defeat Floriana on penalties to reach final

Sliema Wanderers will be facing Hamrun Spartans in the final of the Pre-Season Summer Cup on Saturday after defeating Floriana 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at the end of the ninety minutes at the Centenary Stadium in the second semi-final on Wednesday.

Murilo Henrique put Sliema ahead on the 14th minute but fifteen minutes from time, substitute Franklin Sasere equalised for the Greens on his debut.

In the penalty shoot-out, Murilo Henrique scored the first penalty for Sliema but Thiaguinho Santos hit high for the Greens, Steven Pisani scored for Sliema and Kemar Reid did the same for Floriana, Neil Frendo scored and Jake Grech replied for Floriana, Samuel Gomes‘ penalty was parried by Andrijanic and Fernandinho scored for Floriana to level matters, Adam Magri Overend restored the lead for Sliema but Franklin Sasere equalised. Stanley Ohawuchi scored for Sliema and Dunstan Vella hit the crossbar.
