Sliema Wanderers and Hibernians lead the table with maximum points after two matches as the Blues defeated Balzan 2-0 in another match from the 360Sports Malta Premier at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
The Wanderers, in fact, registered a second consecutive 2-0 win following last week’s 2-0 win over Mosta with goalkeeper Emeka Kelvin Agu maintaining another clean sheet.
Balzan now lie fourth from bottom on one point following the draw with Birkirkara last week.
Coach Dave Rodgers opted to start with Gary Camilleri and Marcus Grima instead of Mosawer Ahadi and the unavailable Triston Caruana. On the other hand, Paul Zammit replaced the suspended Geoffrey Acheamapong with Serginho.
Sliema took the lead eight minutes from the end of the first half when Steve Pisani received an assist from the left and with a low shot from inside the area, beat goalkeeper Danilo Golovic.
The Wanderers doubled the score on the 90th when substitute Samuel Gomes received an assist from the left and when in front of the goalkeeper, he slotted the ball past Golovic.
