The IZIBET Amateur League 1 kicks-off on Friday with the first two matches at the Centenary Stadium – Qormi vs Pembroke Athleta and Xghajra Tornados vs Gharghur.
Sixteen teams are taking part this season – Luqa St. Andrew’s, Zejtun Corinthians, Attard and Msida St. Joseph who were relegated from the BOV Challenge League along with the twelve teams which retained their status in the IZIBET Amateur League last season, namely Birzebbuga St. Peter’s, Qrendi, Mellieha, Xghajra Tornados, Rabat Ajax and Pembroke Athleta from Section A and Qormi, Marsaskala, San Gwann, Gharghur, Kirkop United and Vittoriosa Stars from Section B.
Teams in the IZIBET Amateur League 1, will be playing on a single round-robin basis in the first phase.
In the second phase, teams will be divided in the Top 6 Group and the Play-Out Group for the remaining ten teams. Teams will be playing once again on a single round-robin basis.
The top two teams in the Top 6 will be promoted to the Challenge League while the bottom four teams in the Play-Out Group will be relegated to Amateur League 2.
