Malta Futsal squad announced for upcoming Romania friendlies

Coach Gabriel Dobre has announced his 21-man squad for Malta Futsal’s upcoming double-header friendlies against Romania, due to take place later this month.

Malta will be facing off against Romania on Monday 23rd September and Tuesday 24th September, with both matches starting at 19:00hrs. The two fixtures, which will be held at the University of Malta hall, will also be livestreamed on the Malta FA’s YouTube channel.

The Malta FA would also like to announce that Dobre has extended his contract as Coach of the Malta Futsal National Team for another season. He was first appointed to the position on an interim basis last year.

Aside from Dobre, the technical staff for the upcoming friendlies is also made up of Mark Marlow as Head of Futsal and Beach Soccer, Carlo Scicluna as Assistant Coach, Brian Baldacchino as Goalkeeping Coach, Cedric Sciberras as Fitness Coach, Keith Borg as Match Analyst, Ian Micallef as Team Manager, Franklin Abela as Doctor, Andrea Caruana as Physiotherapist, and Bjorn Vassallo as Kit Manager.

The team will have a four-day training camp from Thursday 19th September to Sunday 22nd September.

The two friendlies against Romania will serve as good preparation for Malta Futsal ahead of main round of UEFA Futsal Euro 2026 Qualifying, where Malta has been drawn in Group 2, which also consists of Finland, Italy and Belarus. Malta finished first in Group C of the preliminary round of the qualifiers.
