Valletta were in excellent form as they defeated Lija Athletic 6-0 at the Centenary Stadium in one of the four matches from the BOV Challenge League in programme on Sunday.
Enoch Biringanine Mushagalusa put the Citizens ahead on 12 minutes and Andrei Ciolacu doubled the score thanks to a penalty on the 34th. Ciolacu added another just before half-time and three minutes in the second half, James Scicluna increased the lead. Valletta added another two goals courtesy of Aidan Jake Friggieri on the 66th and Christian Gauci five minutes from time.
Zurrieq came back from a goal down to beat Pieta’ Hotspurs 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Ross McParland put the Hotspurs ahead on 21 minutes but Sebastian Grech equalised two minutes later and a Sulahmana Mamadu Bah penalty two minutes from time handed Zurrieq the three points.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Fgura United beat Mtarfa 2-1. Samuel Buhagiar converted a penalty eight minutes from the end of the first half but a minute later, Jamiu Temilola Hassan equalised for Mtarfa. Michael Gatt notched the winner on the 63rd.
In another match, St. Andrews and Senglea Athletic shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
