UEFA Nations League D2: Second win for Moldova

Moldova registered a second win in Group D2 of the UEFA Nations League as they defeated Andorra 2-0 at the Stadionul Zimbru in Chisinau on Thursday.

A win which puts them top of the group ahead of the clash with Malta at the National Stadium on Sunday, kick-off at 18:00.

The hosts took the lead on 31 minutes when off a swift counter break, Mihail Caimacov rounded a defender before serving Artur Ionita whose diagonal shot from the left beat goalkeeper Iker Alvarez.

In the second half, Andorra pushed for the equaliser but five minutes in the second half, Moldova sealed the issue with a second goal as Maxim Cojocaru concluded a good run on the left with a diagonal shot which beat the Andorra goalkeeper.

The group winner will be promoted to League C while the runner-up will take part in the League C/D play-offs, facing one of the two best-ranked fourth-placed teams from League C.
