IZIBET Amateur League 1: Attard register fourth win

Attard registered a fourth win in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 as they defeated Marsaskala 5-3 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Nick Ghio put Attard ahead on the 7th and Yanis Tonna doubled the score on the 27th. Bledi Alla scored twice on the 29th and 32nd to increase the lead further and although Fabrizio Zammit reduced the gap on the 36th, Bledi Alla completed his hat-trick on the 44th with Nobukatsu Tsuchiya scoring for Marsaskala just before half-time. Three minutes in the second half, Tsuchiya scored another for Marsaskala.

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s beat Gharghur 4-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Goals by Nathan Attard on the 18th and Samuel Saldanha on the 31st handed the Saints a two-goal lead in the first half. In the second half, Leejoe Schembri extended the lead on the 48th and although Samuel Agius reduced the gap on the 77th, Yusuf Abdullahi Sulaiman made it 4-1 on the 90th.

Two penalties by Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe handed Vittoriosa Stars a 2-1 win over Qrendi at the Sirens Stadium. Ogunnupe put the Stars ahead on the 40th and doubled the score on the 62nd with Brandon Bray scoring a consolation goal thanks to a penalty on the 83rd.

Goals by Carlos Debattista on the 43rd and Cadu on the 70th handed Qormi a 2-0 win over Rabat Ajax at the Centenary Stadium.

Xghajra Tornados came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Zejtun Corinthians at the Sirens Stadium. Stefi Cale put Zejtun ahead on the 5th and four minutes later, Adrian Carabott doubled the score. Larson Mallia converted a penalty in added time before the end of the first half and seven minutes after the 90th, Mallia made it 2-2 thanks to another penalty.

A brace by Marc Bolane Adonis on the 30th and 70th handed Mellieha a 2-0 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium while in a match at the Charles Abela Stadium, San Gwann defeated Kirkop United 3-0 thanks to a Matteo Vella penalty on the 20th, Nahuel Velsquez just before half-time and Mattia Zarb on the 68th.

Attard lead the way with 12 points, followed by Birzebbuga and Vittoriosa on 10, Luqa and Qormi 9, Xghajra 8, San Gwann 7, Mellieha and Kirkop 6, Qrendi 5, Pembroke 3, Gharghur 2, Msida, Marsaskala and Zejtun 1 and Rabat 0.
