Zero Sei climbed first in the Enemed Women’s Futsal League table after a fine 2-0 win against Santa Margherita Futsal.
They scored a goal in each half to ensure the most merited victory. Despite Santa Margherita’s continuous attacks in the second half, they did not manage to break through the opponents’ solid defense with goalkeeper Dorienne Grech making a number of good saves. An own goal by Jennifer Grech and a goal by Andrea Alonso decided this game.
Champions Lija Athletic defeated Mtarfa 5-2. Lija found themselves down twice but were able to turn the score in their favour to take the first three points of the season.
Demi Magrin put Mtarfa ahead but an own goal by Emily Abdilla levelled matters. Janice Pace established the lead once again for Mtarfa but Lija hit back, scoring four goals thanks to a double by Leanne Micallef, a goal by Izabella Camilleri and an own goal by Karen Lia.
Parr Mela Pebbles Futsal broke their duck after beating Iklin 4-3. It was a very balanced and uncertain game until the end with Parr Mela taking the first three points of the season.
Carol Salazar put Parr Mela on top with Mariah Catanzaro equalizing the score for Iklin. Eona Variza and Maria Coppola made the score 3-1 for Parr Mela with Eliana Gialanze reducing the score again for Iklin.
Eona Vargas combined a personal double for Parr Mela with Mariah Catanzaro who reduced the score for Iklin for the last time.
