Melita came from behind to beat Zabbar St. Patrick in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Wednesday.
Zabbar were a better side, creating the better chances during the first half and for sometime in the second half but Melita staged a great comeback to take home the three points.
The Saints managed to take the lead on 14 minutes when Marc Van de Font Bovenkamp floored Stefan Ilic inside the area and from the penalty spot, Brian Gambarte converted.
However five minutes from the end of the first half, Melita levelled matters when Alan Borg Olivier sent Andre through and the latter rounded the goalkeeper before placing the ball at the back of the net.
Karl Mohnani doubled the score on 64 minutes when he received a cross by Kurt Bondin on the right and after controlling the ball, he beat the Zabbar custodian with a powerful drive from outside the area.
Melita sealed the issue with a third goal three minutes later when they were awarded a penalty after Andre was brought down inside the area by goalkeeper Matthew Grech and Matthew Debattista converted.
