Victoria Hotspurs and Mellieha joined Attard and Qrendi in the semi-finalists of the BOV National Amateur Cup as they both registered wins in the quarter-finals at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
IZIBET Amateur League 2 leaders Victoria Hotspurs came from behind to beat IZIBET Amateur League 1 joint-leaders Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 3-1.
Samuel Saldanha put the Saints ahead on the 10th but twelve minutes in the second half, Kurt Borg levelled matters. Dejan Bogdanovic put them ahead on the 76th and Borg sealed the issue with a third goal five minutes in added time.
On the other hand, Mellieha defeated Qormi 2-1.
Alexander Akl put Mellieha ahead on the 70th and Jacob Farrugia doubled the score seven minutes later. Kevin Camilleri pulled one back for Qormi one minute in added time.
Meanwhile Attard, Mellieha, Qrendi and Victoria Hotspurs also qualify for the Meridianbet FA Trophy where Victoria Hotspurs and Mellieha will be facing Senglea Athletic and Tarxien Rainbows respectively in the Preliminary Round. Attard and Qrendi make it to the first round proper.
