Heavy defeat for women’s Under-19 national team

Malta suffered a heavy 0-7 defeat to Slovenia in match day 1 of the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship Round 1 Group B4 at the Stadion NK Lučko in Lučko, Croatia on Wednesday.

Neža Trost put Slovenia ahead on 2 minutes and seven minutes later, Špela Gerbec doubled the score. Sara Medić made it 3-0 just before half-time.

Katjuša Kern increased the lead on 76 minutes and four minutes later, an own goal increased the lead further. Ula Omerzu scored a sixth goal six minutes from time and Varja Špiler made it 7-0 four minutes in added time.

Malta, led by coach David Attard, faces hosts Croatia on Saturday. Croatia defeated Luxembourg 1-0 in another match on Wednesday.
