St. George’s handed IZIBET Amateur League 2 leaders Victoria Hotspurs their first defeat as they registered a 2-0 win at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Following a goalless draw in the first half, Julien Iwueke put the Saints ahead on 62 minutes and Owen Galea doubled the score on the 77th.
Ghaxaq registered a comfortable 4-0 win over Sta. Venera Lightnings with four goals in the second half at the Centenary Stadium.
Jurgen Gerada opened the score on the 63rd. Aaron Agius doubled the score ten minutes later and goals by Yousef Amhamed on 89 minutes and Joao Otavio De Jesus Ganzert four minutes in added time wrapped up victory.
In another match at the Centenary Staidum, Kalkara United beat Ta’ Xbiex 3-0 thanks to goals by Timothy Thomas after just one minute, Jean Claude Annati on the 55th and Timothy Thomas once again on 70 minutes.
Victoria Hotspurs lead the way with the wind 21 points, followed by St. George’s 16, Kalkara, Mqabba and Dingli on 15, Siggiewi 10, Mdina 9, Ghaxaq 8, Ta’ Xbiex 3 and Sta. Venera 0.
