IZIBET Amateur League 1: Birzebbuga regain sole leadership

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s regained sole leadership in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 as they defeated Msida St. Joseph 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium.

Samuel Saldanha notched a hat-trick with goals on 30, 48 and 88 minutes with Ryan Sammut scoring the other goal on 52 minutes.

A goal by Sherif Mohammed Iddrisu handed Luqa St. Andrew’s a narrow win over Gharghur at the Sirens Stadium while at the Charles Abela Stadium, Attard defeated Pembroke Athleta 2-1 thanks to goals by Nicholas Schembri on the 18th and Lydon Cuschieri on the 82nd with Weverton Gomes scoring for Pembroke three minutes from the end of the first half.

Kirkop United defeated Qormi by the odd goal in five at the Sirens Stadium. Steven Schembri put Qormi ahead on the 6th. Six minutes in the second half, Ryan Dalli converted a penalty for Kirkop and a minute later, Misael Tabone made it 2-1. Jayden Zac Borg levelled the score with a penalty for Qormi on the 89th but three minutes in added time, Matthew Borg made it 3-2 for Kirkop.

Mellieha were held in a 2-2 draw by Marsaskala at the Charles Abela Stadium. Marc Bolane Adonis converted a penalty on the 8th but James Oghenekewaro equalised five minutes later. Adonis restored the lead on the 62nd but Nobukatsu Truschiya levelled matters two minutes later.

San GWann registered a comfortable 5-0 win over Rabat Ajax 5-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Nahuel Velásquez put San Gwann ahead on 13 minutes. Mattia Zarb doubled the score on 28 minutes and two minutes later, Matteo Vella made it 3-0. One minute in the second half, Vella extended the lead and Velasquez added another on 66 minutes.

Birzebbuga lead the way with 22 points, followed by Luqa and Attard 21, San Gwann and Vittoriosa 19, Xghajra 17, Qrendi and Qormi 15, Mellieha 12, Kirkop 9, Gharghur and Pembroke 3, Zejtun, Msida and Marsaskala 2 and Rabat 0.
