Hamrun hit three past Hibernians

Hamrun Spartans ended their Opening Round Top 6 commitments in the 360Sports Malta Premier with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hibernians at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Although the Spartans still ended their commitments in fifth place, behind the Paolites, this win should continue to boost their morale ahead of the Closing Round.

Hibernians missed a good opportunity to take the lead on 13 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Miullen was floored inside the area by Steve Borg but Jurgen Degabriele’s effort was turned into a corner by Celio.

Hamrun managed to take the lead on on 28 minutes when Kean Scicluna headed the ball home off a Talison corner from the left.

Talison doubled the score on 75 minutes following a through ball by goalkeeper Celio and beat goalkeeper Hugo Sacco with a diagonal shot from the right.

Four minutes later, Hamrun scored the third goal thanks to a great overhead kick by Joseph Mbong.

Miullen was then sent off for Hibernians after a clash between a number of players from the two teams.
