Valletta returned to winning ways in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Gudja United 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
Andrei Ciolacu converted a penalty just before the end of the first half and although Eman Micallef equalised four minutes in the second half, Ciolacu restored the lead on the 57th and Jefferson Ferreira sealed the issue with a third goal three minutes from time.
A goal by Augusto Rene Caseres on the 17th minute handed Swieqi United a narrow win over Pieta’ Hotspurs at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Marsa defeated Mtarfa 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium thanks to goals by Jean Claude Bugeja on the 21st and Jake Engerer on the 91st.
Santa Lucia moved fourth thanks to a 2-0 win over Zurrieq at the Centenary Stadium courtesy of Jamie Sixsmith on the 65th and an Ibrahim Salis penalty four minutes from time.
Valletta lead the way with 26 points, followed by Marsa and Swieqi on 21, Santa Lucia and Pieta’ 198, Zurrieq and Gudja 17, Mgarr, Sirens and Tarxien 16, Zebbug 10, Fgura and St. Andrews 9, Senglea 6, Lija 5 and Mtarfa 4.
