IZIBET Amateur League 2: Victoria Hotspurs hit seven past Sta. Venera Lightnings

Leaders Victoria Hotspurs registered their tenth win in as many matches in the IZIBET Amateur League 2 as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 7-0 at the Luxol Stadium.

The Hotspurs, who were awarded the three points following a protest lodged by the club after the game against St. George’s, managed to take the lead thanks to a Rondinely on 19 minutes. A minute later, Dylan Mercieca made it 2-0 and Rondinely added another on the 21st. Dylan Mercieca scored a fourth goal on the 25th and four minutes later, the Hotspurs scored another thanks to Daniel Farrugia. Goals by Jason Pace on 71 minutes and Wellington on 89 minutes extended the lead further.

Mqabba kept the pace with the leaders thanks to a 3-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex. Ishmael Galea put Mqabba ahead on 36 minutes, Saturday Nanapere doubled the score on 64 minutes and Andres Tenorio made it 3-0 two minutes in added time.

At the Sirens Stadium, Kalkara United and St. George’s shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

In another match, Siggiewi defeated Ghaxaq 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Miguel Busuttil on the 34th and John Paul Delia on the 93rd.

Victoria Hotspurs lead the way with 30 points, followed by Mqabba on 22, Kalkara and Dingli 19, St. George’s 17, Siggiewi 16, Mdina 9, Ghaxaq 8, Ta’ Xbiex 3 and Sta. Venera 0.
