Late goals hand Marsaxlokk first win

Two late goals enabled Marsaxlokk to beat Zabbar St. Patrick 3-1 in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

Ironically, Zabbar managed to take the lead but the Southseasiders managed to equalise by the end of the first half, scoring twice in the dying minutes to claim the three points.

Zabbar managed to take the lead when Kristian Keqi, served inside the area by Djordje Jovicic, slotted the ball past Calleja Cremona from close range.

Five minutes from half-time, Marsaxlokk were awarded a penalty after Ulises Arias was fouled inside the area and from the penalty spot, Yuri converted.

Diogo Tavares hit the upright for Zabbar ten minutes in the second half but nine minutes from time, Marsaxlokk forged ahead when off a Yuri corner from the left, a defender deflected the ball onto Alex Tanque to end at the back of the net.

Two minutes later, Marsaxlokk sealed the issue with a third goal as goalkeeper Matthew Grech failed to control the ball following a back pass, the ball hit the foot of the upright and fell at the feet of Yuri who served Alex Tanque who hit home from close range.
