Zabbar St. Patrick registered a second successive win in the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round as they defeated nine-man Balzan 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
A win which puts Zabbar in second place with Sliema Wanderers, one point behind leaders Hamrun Spartans. Balzan, on the other hand, suffered a second defeat in three matches.
Following a goalless first half, Zabbar took the lead on 56 minutes when off a cross from the left, Luka Jankovic committed an own goal off a freekick from the left.
Balzan were reduced to ten men on 68 minutes after Henri Stanic was sent off for hitting an opponent and eleven minutes later, Rafael Flores was also sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
One minute in added time, Zabbar doubled the score courtesy of substitute Stefan Ilic who beat Ciappara with a shot from the left after being released by Joao Pedro.
Balzan were unlucky to hit the cross bar with a Triston Caruana freekick but five minutes in added time, the Saints scored the third goal when off a swift counter attack, Diogo Tavares received the ball on the right with a shot from inside the area which beat the Balzan custodian.
