Gzira rescue point in 2-2 draw with Melita

Gzira United came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Melita in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

A draw which leaves the two teams in joint-seventh place, just one point behind the four teams lying in third place.

Melita took the lead on 8 minutes when off a Marc Van De Font Bovenkamp freekick from the left, Henrique Motta headed the ball home past goalkeeper Giulio Mangano.

Two minutes in added time, before the end of the first half, Melita doubled the score courtesy of Camilo Sanchez who controlled the ball following an assist by Andre from the left and slotted the ball past the Gzira goalkeeper.

Gzira reduced the gap on 54 minutes when Nikola Disic, served by Luis Riascos, rounded goalkeeper Lubik before placing the ball at the back of the net.

The Maroons levelled matters on 72 minutes thanks to Luis Riascos who slotted the ball home from close range when served by Thaylor from the right.

On the 90th, substitute Gareth Barone was sent off for Melita and six minutes in added time, Nikola Disic of Gzira was also sent off.
