Valletta regained a seven-point lead on top the BOV Challenge League table as a goal by Brandon Paiber on 32 minutes and another by Enoch Mushagalusa three minutes from time handed them a 2-0 win over Mtarfa at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Emmanuel Asante scored four as Santa Lucia registered an important 5-3 win over Mgarr United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Asante put Liam Mangion’s side ahead on 13 minutes and Salam Kojo Mawuena doubled the score on 29 minutes. Asante converted a penalty on 68 minutes but Mgarr hit back with goals by Clive Gauci on 71 minutes and Dejan Vukovic on 85 minutes. However Asante scored again on 86 minutes and although Kyle Frendo scored a third goal for Mgarr three minutes from time, Emmanuel Asante converted a penalty four minutes in added time.
Zurrieq defeated Senglea Athletic 3-1 in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Sulahmana Mamadu Bah converted a penalty on 75 minutes and although Ivin Farrugia equalised on 83 minutes, an own goal two minutes later restored the lead for Zurrieq with Bah adding another on 86 minutes.
Swieqi United defeated Zebbug Rangers 3-2 in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Blessing Brafo put Swieqi ahead on 34 minutes and although Camilo Diaz equalised three minutes in the second half, Matthew Spiteri restored the lead on 56 minutes and Brafo added another on 66 minutes with Duvan Mosquera converting a penalty on the 90th to reduce the gap.
Valletta lead the way with 35 points, followed by Marsa on 28, Tarxien 26, Pieta’ and Swieqi 25, Santa Lucia 22, Mgarr and Zurrieq 21, Fgura and Gudja 18, Sirens 17, Zebbug 16, Lija 12, St. Andrews 10, Senglea 8 and Mtarfa 7.
