Leaders Victoria Hotspurs moved thirteen points clear in the IZIBET Amateur League 2 as they defeated Mqabba 4-1 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Rondinely scored twice on 20 and 31 minutes and Kurt Borg made it 3-0 one minute from the end of the first half. Emmanuel Mbong added another eight minutes in the second half and Ryan Dalli reduced the gap three minutes from time.
Kalkara United defeated Mdina Knights 4-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to goals by Andriy Pisani on the 20th, a brace by Miguel Perez on the 26th and 58th and Timothy Thomas on the 70th.
Matthew Robert Gauci notched a hat-trick as St. George’s defeated Dingli Swallows 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals on 17, 69 and 78 minutes – the third goal being a penalty.
Ghaxaq defeated Ta’ Xbiex 4-3 at the Luxol Stadium. Goals by Johan Grech and Andres Rodriguez on 4 and 10 minutes handed Ta’ Xbiex a two-goal lead but Shamizen Buhagiar reduced the gap six minutes later. Aaron Agius levelled matters on 49 minutes and although Nicholas Scicluna made it 3-2 on 71 minutes, Agius restored equilibrium on 74 minutes with Cowlin Debono notching the winner ten minutes from time.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Sta. Venera Lightnings earned their first point as they held Siggiewi in a 1-1 draw. Lincoln Micallef converted a penalty eight minutes in the second half and Miguel Grima levelled matters on 74 minutes.
Victoria Hotspurs lead the way with 39 points, followed by Mqabba on 26, Kalkara 25, St. George’s 24, Dingli 23, Siggiewi 17, Mdina 15, Ghaxaq 14, Ta’ Xbiex 4 and Sta. Venera 1.
