Victoria Hotspurs moved fifteen points clear in the IZIBET Amateur League 2 as they defeated Ta’ Xbiex 6-1 at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.
Shaun Attard put the Hotspurs ahead on 4 minutes and Kurt Borg doubled the score three minutes later. Rondinely scored twice on 16 and 52 minutes with Jason Pace scoring a fifth goal on 58 minutes. Gian Carlo Sammut reduced the gap on 59 minutes but Kurt Borg added another seven minutes from time.
Kalkara United and Mqabba shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, goals by Timmy Thomas for Kalkara on 63 minutes and Saturday Nanapere four minutes later for Mqabba.
Dingli Swallows defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Ronaldinho Nathaniel Daley converted a penalty for Dingli on 28 minutes and although Ian Caruana equalised three minutes in the second half, goals by Andre Debattista on 85 minutes and Jason Camilleri one minute later handed Dingli the three points.
Mdina Knights and Siggiewi shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Luxol Stadium while Matthew Robert Gauci scored twice as St. George’s defeated Ghaxaq 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Gauci opened the score on 45 minutes and converted a penalty eleven minutes in the second half.
Victoria Hotspurs lead the way with 45 points, followed by Mqabba and St. George’s on 30, Kalkara 29, Dingli 26, Mdina 19, Siggiewi 18, Ghaxaq 14, Ta’ Xbiex 4 and Sta. Venera 1.
