Pieta’ Hotspurs held Tarxien Rainbows in a goalless draw in a match from the BOV Challenge League Top 8 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Tarxien move second on 30 points, eleven points behind leaders Valletta with Marsa lying in third place on 29, followed by Swieqi 28, Pieta’ 27, Zurrieq and Santa Lucia 25 and Mgarr 23.
In the Play-Out, Senglea Athletic won the basement clash with Mtarfa 3-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Rudy Cassar put Senglea ahead on the half-hour and an own goal five minutes from the end of the first half enabled them to double the score. Goals by Darren Falzon on 51 minutes and Jamiu Temilola Hassan on 68 minutes restored equilibrium but Benjamin Tweneboa three minutes in added time handed Senglea the three points.
A goal by Mattia Galliano seven minutes in the second half handed St. Andrews a narrow win over Fgura United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium while at the Centenary Stadium, Gudja United and Zebbug Rangers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, goals by Glen Mifsud on 10 minutes for Zebbug and Wesley Santos eight minutes in the second half for Gudja.
In another match, Sirens defeated Lija Athletic 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Sammy Elfarsi put Sirens ahead on 14 minutes and although an own goal levelled matters on 74 minutes, two minutes in added time, Gilberto Carrara made it 2-1 for Steve D’Amato’s side.
In the Play-Out, Gudja lead with 22 points, followed by Fgura on 21, Sirens 20, Zebbug 18, St. Andrews 13, Lija and Senglea 12 and Mtarfa 7.
