Second win in a row for Naxxar Lions

Naxxar Lions registered a second successive win as they came from behind to beat Melita 5-2 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the National Stadium on Sunday.

A win which puts the Lions just one point behind Balzan and two behind Melita and Gzira.

Hugo Santos put Naxxar ahead on 17 minutes as Henrique Motta was not quick to clear the ball into safety and lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Aleksander Lubik.

Melita equalised two minutes from the end of the first half when Aldair Simanca lobbed the ball into the area with the goalkeeper blocking his attempt but Jesus Yepez hit the ball in the bottom left corner. 

One minute later, Melita made it 2-1 when Lubik saved partially a shot from the left by Andre and Jesus Yepez headed home off the rebound. 

Twelve minutes in the  second half, Naxxar levelled matters when substitute Edward Bolanos who had just entered the field on play stole the ball on the left and advanced to the edge of the area and pulled to a more central position before beating Lubik with a fine rising shot. 

Naxxar made it 3-2 on 62 minutes when off a cross from the right, Bolanos headed the ball down for Edson Farias to slot the ball past Lubik.

Three minutes later, Naxxar scored a fourth goal when off a corner from the right Hugo Santos headed the ball home past the Melita goalkeeper.

Two minutes in added time, Maicon made it 5-2 beating Lubik with a shot from the right after a first attempt had been blocked.
