The Malta Women’s National Team will be looking to bounce back as they host Andorra in their second UEFA Women’s Nations League Group C2 fixture. The match will take place tomorrow at the Centenary Stadium, with kick-off at 19:30, and will be broadcast live on TVMSport+.
Malta kicked off their campaign with a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Cyprus. Despite a strong second-half performance, the team was unable to overturn the two-goal deficit from the first half. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, team captain Emma Lipman emphasised that Malta’s identity was reflected in the second-half display against Cyprus.
“We are not the team that played in the first half, trailing Cyprus by two goals. Our identity is what we showed in the second half. We need to stay focused, concentrate on our individual roles, and bring that same fight from the start,” Lipman said.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match, Lipman highlighted the importance of showing the desire to fight and win. She noted that Andorra is not expected to press Malta too high, making it crucial to maintain possession and avoid conceding unnecessary corners.
Reflecting on the Cyprus loss, Lipman described it as a learning experience: “It was a difficult situation, but a perfect way for the team to realise that we need to step up.”

Head Coach Manuela Tesse echoed Lipman’s thoughts, stressing the need for full concentration and intensity from the start. She reiterated that Malta must replicate the energy and discipline shown in the second half against Cyprus.
When asked about squad selection, Tesse explained her decision not to start any of the new faces against Cyprus, stating that they need more time to adapt to the team’s philosophy.
Due to an injury setback, Malta will be without defender Jessica Dimech, who was forced to withdraw from the squad. In response, Tesse has called up striker Jade Flask, emphasising the need for more attacking options to break down Andorra’s defence.
With a crucial three points at stake, Malta will be determined to deliver a strong performance and get their first win in the competition. Fans can expect an intense battle as the team looks to make a statement on home soil.
