San Gwann maintained a two-point lead in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 Top 6 following a 3-3 draw in the top-of-the-table clash at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Gonzalo Virano put San Gwann ahead with a penalty on 28 minutes and Denilson Borg doubled the score on 33 minutes. A penalty by Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe on 38 minutes reduced the gap and Aaron Sammut equalised on 69 minutes. San Gwann regained the lead thanks to another penalty by Virano five minutes from time but Paul Odunayo Aderibigbe levelled matters thanks to another penalty on the 90th.
Birzebbuga St. Peter’s rescued a point in a 2-2 draw with Luqa St. Andrew’s at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Bydasser Sammut put Luqa ahead just before the end of the first half and Giovanni Galea doubled the score three minutes in the second half. However eight minutes in added time Yusuf Abdullahi Sulaiman reduced the gap and one minute later, Dylan Micallef made ir 2-2.
In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Xghajra Tornados and Attard shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
San Gwann lead the way with 39 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 37, Birzebbuga 34, Luqa 32, Xghajra 31 and Attard 28.
