UEFA Development Tournament: Malta beats Faroe Islands 4-0

Malta also won their third and last game of the UEFA Boys U16 Development Tournament, beating Faroe Islands with the score 4-0. It was a deserved victory for our boys, who held the initiative for most of the match, with the visitors chasing shadows at times.

On 14 minutes, Malta managed to take the led when Andre Zammit served Justin Pena Serna in the box who headed the ball behind the Faroe Islands goalkeeper. On 23 minutes, Jaden Tanti was unlucky after producing a bombshell from a long distance with hit the crossbar.

Malta doubled on 39 minutes when Lydon Calleja-Attard kicked against the crossbar at the second post with Jamie Nwoko having the easiest of tasks to head into the empty net. On the stroke of half-time, Pena Serna added his second goal of the game, heading home at the far post from a Calleja-Attard cross.

On 75 minutes, substitute Denzel Attard was sent in the clear but his grounder went wide. But from the resultant corner kick, Attard headed Malta’s fourth past the Faroe Islands goalkeeper.

Armenia won the early kick-off match against Gibraltar by a solitary goal.

The Malta match brought the UEFA Development Tournament to an end, a productive period for the Under-16 squad, recording three victories, eight goals scored and none against.
