After suffering three consecutive defeats, Sliema Wanderers returned to winning ways as they defeated Balzan 3-2 in a match from the Closing Round of the 360Sports Malta Premier at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
The Wanderers, therefore, moved fifth on 12 points, leaving Balzan second from bottom on 8 points.
Vito Plut put Sliema ahead on 17 minutes as he received an assist by Mohamed Awad and rounded a defender before beating goalkeeper Danilo Golovic.
Sliema doubled the score on 35 minutes as Vito Plut headed the ball home off a cross by Steve Pisani from the right.
Adam Magri Overend made it 3-0 on 59 minutes when Maksim Pryadun had a shot partially saved by Golovic and Vito Plut served Magri Overend off the rebound.
Nine minutes from time, Triston Caruana converted a penalty for Balzan when Awosanya Oluwatobiloba Dimeji was floored by Tedo Kikabidze inside the area.
Two minutes in added time, substitute Gianluca Cacciatore reduced the gap further, hitting home off a cross by Benjamin Hili.
