Hibernians returned to winning ways as they came from behind to beat Naxxar Lions 3-2 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
The Paolites move to just one point behind Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk and three behind leaders Floriana, leaving Naxxar at the bottom of the table with just seven points.
Naxxar took the lead on 4 minutes when off a cross by Maicon from the left, Edward Bolanos had a shot blocked by a defender and Edson Farias slotted the ball past goalkeeper Pablo Sanchez.
Hibernians levelled matters on 13 minutes when off an intelligent pass by Isaiah Chukunyere, Lucas Villela beat goalkeeper Matthias Debono with a shot from the left.
Nine minutes later, Hibs went ahead when off Chukunyere received the ball on the right and headed it in the direction of Lucas Villela who controlled the ball before hitting home past the Naxxar goalkeeper.
Dexter Xuereb made it 3-1 on the half hour with a fine freekick which saw the ball hit the crossbar before ending beyond the goal line.
Naxxar reduced the gap on 38 minutes when Bacary Sane sent Maicon through on the right and off the latter’s assist, Edward Bolanos slotted the ball past Sanchez.
