Hamrun Spartans suffered a third defeat in four matches as they lost to Mosta 1-2 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
A win which enables Mosta to move sixth, just one point behind fifth-placed Hamrun.
Mosta took the lead on 16 minutes when GIancarlo Goncalves took full advantage of a short pass by Joseph Mbong and advanced into the area before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
Before the end of the first half, Mosta were awarded a penalty after Matthias Ellul handed the ball inside the area but Clayton Failla’s effort was blocked by Henry Bonello.
Hamrun equalised on 68 minutes when off a cross by Emerson Marcelina, Raphael Lopes headed the ball in the direction of Cesar Menacho who headed the ball home past goalkeeper Anse Ngoubi Demba.
However on 78 minutes, Mosta regained the lead when Bonello saved partially a freekick by Failla and off the rebound, Stephen Gabriel Chiemezie placed the ball at the back of the net.
