HIbernians collected their first three points in the 360Sports Malta Premier Bottom 6 as they defeated Melita 3-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
A win which puts the Paolites three points ahead of Zabbar and seven ahead of Gzira. With just three points from the remaining four matches, they would secure their Premier status.
Melita, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table with Naxxar Lions, one point behind Balzan as they suffered a third consecutive defeat, collecting just two points from the last six matches.
Hibernians took the lead after just three minutes minutes when off a cross by Dexter Xuereb from the right, Khevin Fraga slotted the ball past goalkeeper Gosef Mizzi.
On the half hour, Lucas Villela concluded a good run on the left with an assist for Alex Bruno who hit home past the Melita goalkeeper.
Hibs made it 3-0 on 57 minutes thanks to Lucas Villela who received a through ball by Bjorn Kristensen on the right and rounded Marc Van de Font Bovenkamp before beating Mizzi, aided by the foot of the upright.
