The Malta Under-17 side lost 0-3 to Bulgaria in a match from Group B5 of the UEFA Under-17 Championship Round 2 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.
Radostin Stoilov put Bulgaria ahead on 18 minutes and Maksim Minkov doubled the score on 39 minutes. Malta tried hard to reduce the gap but eight minutes from time, Samuil Tsonov made it 3-0.
Malta will be facing Luxembourg in the second game on Sunday. Luxembourg shared the spoils in a goalless draw with the Faroe Islands in another match on Thursday.
