Birkirkara secured the services of Uruguayan twenty three year old central defender Francisco López Garrone.

Fran Lopez played for Plaza Colonia and Depor Colonia in Uruguay before moving to Spain to play for Cabecense and later Los Barrios. Last summer, he moved to Jaguares FC in Mexico.

Birkirkara had earlier signed Jan Busuttil and confirmed Luis Cordova, Leandro Lacunza, Manuel Morello, Pablo Gaitan and Donovan Makoma and released Giacomo Volpe, Agustin Sandona, Larsson Coulibaly, Brian Esalo and Gnamien Yipke with Maxuell Samurai moving to Gzira United.
