Floriana FC secured the services of Argentine twenty nine year old attacking midfielder Federico Nicolas Varela.

Federico Varela, who also holds a Spanish passport, stated his career at Celta Vigo in Spain and following a spell at Stade Nyonnais, he moved to Portugal to join FC Porto and later Portimonense. He returned to Spain and played for CF Rayo Majadahonda, CD Leganes and UD Las Palmas, Following a spell with Denizlispor in Turkey, he moved to CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and later to Phoenix Rising in the USA. Last January, he joined Differdange 03 in Luxembourg.

The Greens, who had earlier appointed Daniel Portela as their new coach, had signed Iago Mendonca and Rui Areias while goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi, Guy Serge Yameogo, Matias Garcia, Oualid El Hasni, Jork Becerra, Alexandros Kouros, Gabriel Sotomayor and Elvis Mashike moved elsewhere.
