St. George’s secured a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s National Beach Soccer Championship, joining Parr Mela, Swieqi United, and Zero Sei after finishing second in the final standings.
The Cospicua side delivered a dominant performance, defeating Lija Athletics 8–2. Liliana Coherte led the scoring with a brace with Shakira Bugeja, Ilenia Navarro, Estephany Colomenarez, Laury Carrasco, Jeanelle Falzon, and Alexandra scoring the other goals.
Lija Athletic replied with goals by Nell Zarb Cousin and Jasmine Vella Turner.
In another fixture, Zero Sei overcame Parr Mela Rockets Beach Soccer with a commanding 10–4 win. It was an open contest, with Zero Sei capitalising on defensive errors from their opponents.
Rocio Robles starred for Zero Sei, netting five goals, while Demi Magrin while four. Eliza Czik scored the other goal. Parr Mela’s goals came from Edna Vargas, who scored a hat-trick, and Isabel Otero.
The semi-finals will be played between June 25 and 26. Swieqi United will take on Parr Mela, while St George’s face Zero Sei in what promises to be an exciting stage.
