Hamrun Spartans secured the services of Malta twenty eight year old international midfielder Matías Nicolás García.

The Argentine-born midfielder is a product of Club Atletico Belgrano but moved to Malta to join Senglea Athletic in summer 2017, helping them to retain their Premier League status. Two years later, he moved to Floriana with whom he won a Premier League title and an FA Trophy.

The Spartans had earlier appointed Giacomo Modica as their new coach and signed Domantas Šimkus, Rafael Compri and Junior Djile with Steve Borg, Mattias Ellul, Mayron, Roko Prsa, Elionay, Mihael Klepac, Talison and Raphael Lopes, not retained or moving elsewhere.
