Marsaxlokk re-joined Hamrun Spartans in second place in the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round Top 6 as they defeated Valletta 1-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Thanks to this win, the Southseasiders maintain their hopes of securing second place should they beat Naxxar Lions next week and Hamrun Spartans fail to beat Valletta.
Should Marsaxlokk take second place, Valletta would join them, Hamrun and Floriana in the Final Four while in case Hamrun finish second, Valletta would be sure of a place in the UEFA Conference League as the team placing third in the combined Opening Round and Closing Round league phases tables.
Marsaxlokk scored the all-important goal eight minutes from the end of the first half when following a series of shots which were blocked and Dodo served Leandro Aguirre who fired the ball past goalkeeper Adilson Maringa.
