The Malta Football Association informs that its Integrity Officer received a joint report from Gżira United FC and Valletta FC alleging an attempt to induce a player to manipulate the FA Trophy Final.

The Malta FA immediately referred the matter to the Executive Police. The allegation concerns a currently registered player who is not registered with either Gżira United FC or Valletta FC. The player, who is considered a person of interest in the investigation, has been placed on precautionary suspension from national-team selection. Additional integrity measures have also been implemented to preserve and safeguard the ongoing investigation.

As this remains a developing matter, the Malta FA will make no further public comment at this stage and will issue further statements as necessary.
