Birkirkara secured the services of twenty seven year old Brazilian forward Amarildo Aparecido de Souza Junior on loan from Brazilian side Tombense.

Amarildo started his career at America FC and played for Tanabi EC and São Paulo FC before joining Red Bull Brasil. He had a spell on loan with New York Red Bulls in the USA with their second team and on his return to Brazil, he played for Maringa, Caldense and Tombense from where he was loaned to Famalicao in Portugal and Nautico, Pouso Alegre, Resende and Ypiranga in Brazil before spells in Vietnam with Viettel FC and PVF-CAND FC.

The Stripes, who have confirmed Paul Zammit as coach, had earlier announced the signing of Rashed Al-Tumi, Zach Muscat, Alenadro Garzia, Jake Vassallo, JP Iseppe, Kadu, Yago and Jefferson Vinicius and confirmed that Shaun Dimech, Leandro Lacunza, Alessandro Coppola, Manuel Morello, Fran Lopez, Luis Cordova, Roni Santos, Geoffrey Acheampong, Donovan Makoma, Sebastian Viveros, Jacques Bayo and Jere Vrcic left the club or were released. Shelom Magri and Nathan Cross were loaned to other clubs.
