Hamrun Spartans announced that Marco Amelia has been appointed as their new Head-Coach. He replaces Stefano Sanderra who stepped down from his post with immediate effect due to health reasons.

Amelia started his coaching career at Lupa Roma and later led Vastese, Livorno, Prato, the Frosinone Under-18 side, Olbia and Sondrio.

As a player, the former Italy national team goalkeeper was on the books of Lupa Frascati, Roma, Livorno, Lecce, Parma, Palermo, Genoa, Milan, Rocca Priora, Perugia and Lupa Castelli Romani before moving to Chelsea and concluding his career at Vicenza. 

This summer, the Spartans signed Jake Grech, Ante Coric, Lucas Villela, Jack Ipalibo, Tobias Bjørnstad, Emmanuel Ernest, Messie Biatoumoussoka and Saliou Thioune and renewed the contracts of Damir Ceter, Emerson Marcelina and Rafael Compri while confirming the departure of Henry Bonello and Joseph Mbong apart from Jonny, Mouad El Fanis, Blessing Eleke, Ivan Inzoudine and Michele Carboni.
