PSG bidding to make it three-in-a-row
Each of UEFA’s competitions still have qualification play-off fixtures to be completed, which makes long-range predictions in the outright markets rather tricky.
Having said that, the cream generally rises to the top in the Champions League, making it a little easier to identify potential winners.
Paris Saint-Germain head into the competition bidding to win it for the third consecutive season, and they will fancy their chances of achieving the feat.
The defending champions have strengthened their attacking options this summer and still have time to make further additions to their squad.
Despite this, odds of 5/1 make limited appeal as a betting proposition and it could pay to search for better value elsewhere in the market.
Arsenal will be desperate to go one better after being defeated by PSG in last season’s final. They should fare best out of the English clubs in the competition.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona will also expect to mount strong bids to lift the trophy and it would be foolish to underestimate their chances this season.
However, each of the aforementioned clubs may find it difficult to stop Real Madrid. The 15-time winners are priced at 7/1 to clinch the title.
Jose Mourinho will be eager to prove a point in his second stint as manager and Los Blancos are strongly fancied to rule Europe again.
Elsewhere, with the line-up for the Europa League and Europa Conference League still to be determined, bookmakers have yet to formulate their odds.
Juventus, AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen are the top teams in the Europa League at the moment, but the landscape will change when the qualification play-offs have been completed.
Regardless of which teams end up in the competition, Milan could be worth an interest. New manager Ruben Amorim will be desperate to win a trophy in his first season in charge.
The Europa Conference League is equally difficult to predict, but a handful of teams leap off the page as potential winners.
They include Brighton & Hove Albion, Ajax and Monaco, who could all be a force to be reckoned with in UEFA’s third-tier competition this season.
Rangers may also be dangerous if they can bounce back from a troubled start to life under new manager Derek McInnes.
